Come Escape with Us!

Surrounded by Crown Land, Great Escape Cabins is a northern cabin and campground resort, situated within the beautiful French River Municipality.  Located along the Murdock River (as it enters the French River), we offer year-round accommodations for all types of outdoor adventurists. Providing our guests with a beautiful waterfront view, Great Escape Cabins is sure to bring you the vacation of your dreams!

We are a short 3.5 hour drive Northwest of Toronto, away from all the hustle and bustle of life. Wake up to the sound of loons, get comfy in an Adirondack chair and enjoy the view alongside that morning coffee. There’s no better way to start the day while on vacation in the North!

There are a multitude of opportunities both on and off resort. From fishing and canoeing, to snowmobiling and ice fishing. We have something memorable for each season! Be sure to learn more on Adventure pages.

We are conveniently located just outside the village of Alban, and are only a short drive to many restaurants, golf courses, and tourist attractions, including the French River Vistor’s Centre. The grocery store, gas station, LCBO and Beer Store are all within 5 – 15 mins. away.

Our General Store onsite also offers those forgotten items, as well as snacks, fishing supplies, watercraft rentals and live bait. For more information on what we carry, please visit our General Store page.

  1. Is this several accommodations together or are they secluded?
How many does the property sleep?
Is the water suitable for kayaking and swimming?
How far is the water from the accommodation?
Are pets allowed and what is the cost early August.

    Your time is appreciated.

    • Hi Annette!
Thanks for reaching out to us! Our cabins are all separate, but beside each other. The only cabins that are attached are Cabins 1 and 2, which share a common entrance into their own secured separate doors to their individual cabins. The cabins in total would sleep a minimum of 14 people if you were to rent all the cabins, but that number would increase if you were to have additional guests sleeping on the futons that are in some of the cabin’s living rooms.
The water is steps away from the cabins, as we have a staircase that takes you down to the dock. The water is suitable for kayaking and swimming within the area of the resort. I cannot confirm that other areas of the Murdock river aren’t a bit choppy.
Pets are definitely welcome, but we do charge an additional fee per pet and require them to be on a leash at all times for the safety of the pet, as well as our other guests.
Unfortunately our cabins are all booked up for the summer months already but we do have campsites available. The campground also has a comfort station with a separate men’s and woman’s. Both have toilets, sinks and showers. If this is something you are interested in we would be happy to work with you on a reservation.

We look forward to having you as a guest at our beautiful resort!
